Man suspected of killing policeman's children detained in Dagestan

MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - A man suspected of having killed a policeman's children has been detained in Dagestan, the Interior Ministry reported on Wednesday.

"Due to the well-coordinated work of the investigative team, the suspected murderer has been identified very quickly. This is a resident of a village neighboring the one where the crime was committed," it said.

"There are solid grounds to suspect that he is responsible for killing two sons of an officer of a non-departmental guard unit in the village of Beliji, the Derbent district," it said.

A knife with which the children were presumably killed was found on the man, it said.

It was reported earlier that two sons of a police officer, ages 9 and 11, were stabbed to death at their home in Beliji on February 11.
