MOSCOW. Feb 13 (Interfax) - Sultangeri Khashagulgov, a resident of Nazran, Ingushetia, was killed in trying to offer armed resistance after security services attempted to detain him in his home, an Ingush law enforcement source told Interfax.
"Security services blockaded Khashagulgov on Wednesday morning in a private house on Khautiyev Street in Nazran and tried to detain him, but he offered armed resistance and was killed. A member of security services suffered an injury in an exchange of fire," the source said.
Sultangeri Khashagulgov's brother, Yakub Khashagulgov, was detained on Tuesday on suspicion of playing a role in organizing the bombing at a Vladikavkaz market several years ago.
Their elder brother, Isa, has been under investigation for a long time on suspicion of active membership of illegal armed groups responsible for numerous acts of terrorism and sabotage in Ingushetia and other regions of Russia.
Meanwhile, a cache with ammunition was found in a search operation in the Sunzha district of Ingushetia, the Ingush Interior Ministry told Interfax on Wednesday.
"A 10-liter jerrycan containing an RKG antitank hand grenade, an F-1 grenade, an RGD hand grenade without a detonator, a round for a VOG-25 under-barrel grenade launcher, an empty magazine for an AK-47 assault rifle, and a large number of cartridges was found in a forest 1.5 kilometers away from the Kavkaz federal highway, on the southwestern outskirt of the Ordzhonikidzevskoye community," the ministry said.
Attacks on a police officer and a former police officer were committed in Khasavyurt and Derbent on Tuesday evening. Both men were badly wounded, the Dagestani Interior Ministry told Interfax.
In particular, an unidentified gunman fired at a policeman in the backyard of his home in Khasavyurt at 9:30 p.m. Moscow time. "The policeman was badly wounded and taken to the hospital, and the attacker is being looked for," a Dagestani Interior Ministry source said.
In Derbent, an improvised explosive device went off under a car belonging to a former policeman at 9:50 p.m. "The car owner was badly wounded and taken to the hospital. A team of investigators is working at the scene."
An unidentified explosive device was set off on the outskirts of Buinaksk, Dagestan, while a Russian Defense Ministry convoy was passing by, the city police department told Interfax.
"A roadside landmine was set off while armored Ural trucks belonging to a Defense Ministry unit were passing by. The incident caused no casualties but caused mechanical damage to one of the vehicles," it said.
Unidentified gunmen fired upon a building of the Investigative Committee department for Dagestan in the community of Novy Khushet in Makhachkala and fled, a law enforcement source told Interfax on Wednesday.
"No one was injured. The building sustained minor damage. Officers from an investigative team found 17 7.62-mm cartridge cases at the scene," he said.
