MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax) - Approximately 1,000 people were hurt in the meteorite event in the Chelyabinsk region, a representative of the Russian Interior Ministry said in an update.
"According to the latest data, about 1,000 people are hurt, among them over 200 children," he noted.
The Chebarkul Lake into which the meteorite presumably splashed down is taken under police surveillance, he said.
