MOSCOW. Feb 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Elements of an optical-electronic system for monitoring space garbage will be commissioned in the Altai in 2014, Viktor Sharkogordsky, Precision Instrument-Building Corporation general designer, told reporters.
"The system has been built already and the testing has started this year. It will be commissioned next year," Sharkogordsky said at a press conference in Moscow on Friday.
A second system intended for monitoring space garbage is to be built in Bolivia. It will signal the approach of space objects to the Earth, he said.
