ABU DHABI. Feb 18 (Interfax-AVN) - The upgraded T-90S tank is the best among those offered on the international arms market today, therefore Russian arms trader Rosoboronexport expects that its demonstration in the United Arab Emirates will become a highlight of the 11th International Defense Exhibition and Conference IDEX 2013 that opened on Sunday, head of the Rosoboronexport delegation to the show Nikolai Dimidyuk told Interfax-AVN.
He said that for the first time Uralvagonzavod is demonstrating its two latest inventions - the upgraded T-90S tank that will be demonstrated at the firing range and the unique BMPT tank support vehicle.
Asked how arms trade is developing with the host country, the United Arab Emirates, Dimidyuk said: "Our relations are stable, there are no special breakthroughs but work does not stop."
"The intergovernmental commission meets annually defining the directions of further work. Among major current projects I would single out the project of upgrading previously delivered BMP-3 vehicles. At the exhibition we will discuss the progress of the project," he said.
The contract between the UAE and Rosoboronexport for upgrading 135 previously delivered vehicles was signed at the previous IDEX in 2011. The deal is worth $70 million. Kurganmashzavod was placed in charge of implementing it.
