Radiation levels normal in meteorite crater - military

YEKATERINBURG. Feb 18 (Interfax-AVN) - Radiation levels are normal in the place were a meteorite fragment fell in the Chebarkul district of Chelyabinsk Region, spokesman for the Central Military District Yaroslav Roshchupkin told Interfax-AVN on Friday.

"Military experts measured radiation levels at Lake Chebarkul, which were normal near the crater," Roshchupkin said.

The place where the meteorite is believed to have fallen was examined by servicemen of the Central Military District's tank brigade. It is six meters in diameter, he said.

Radiation levels are under permanent control in this place, the spokesman said.
