New cover to be built over Chernobyl NPP 4th unit engine room

KYIV. Feb 18 (Interfax) - The Ukrainian Research Institute NIISK and the Kyiv Energoproyekt will examine the engine room of the fourth unit of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant and help design a new cover for it.

Power plant specialists have inspected the site already, the Chernobyl NPP website reported on Friday.

Inspection results were not reported.

Wall panels and parts of the engine room's roof caved in on February 12 on the area of approximately 600 square meters.
