First S-80 unguided rockets were delivered to Russian armed forces in 2012 - Splav firm

ABU DHABI. Feb 18 (Interfax-AVN) - The first S-80 advanced unguided rockets, intended to be used by helicopter and fighter jet crews, were delivered to the Russian armed forces back in 2012, Nikolai Makravets, a representative of the Tula-based defense company Splav, announced during the S-80's presentation at the 11th IDEX arms show on Monday.

"Given the long range of these 80-millimeter rockets (6,000 meters), some countries would like to launch them from the surface," he told the press.

"We are in talks on these rockets with some southern countries," he said.

"The S-80's production for the Russian Defense Ministry has been calculated for decades," he said.
