Georgian foreign minister condemns restoration of monuments to Stalin

TBILISI. Feb 20 (Interfax) - Georgian Foreign Minister Maya Panjikidze has objected to the restoration of monuments to Joseph Stalin in Georgia.

"Stalin is the most horrible phenomenon of the 20th century, and to me he is identical to Nazism and Hitler, but it looks like the people trying today to restore monuments to him in Georgia don't know real history," Panjikidze said at a meeting with opposition parliamentarians on Tuesday.

"It is Stalin who is the author of Georgia's annexation to the Soviet Union," she said.
