MOSCOW. Feb 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Rys armored vehicle Russia assembles under the Italian Iveco license does not meet the needs of the Russian Airborne Forces, Forces Commander Col. Gen. Vladimir Shamanov told reporters in Moscow on Monday.
"The vehicle does not fit our conditions according to tactical and technical parameters. Besides, there is no understanding on support, maintenance and repairs," he said.
The Airborne Forces prefer Tigr-M vehicles and the biaxial modification of the Kamaz truck, he said.
"Tigr-M will be supplied to us soon, primarily to the Kubinka Spetsnaz base," he said.
The biaxial Kamaz platform will be made within two years. "We are mostly limited by the plane's payload," Shamanov said.
