KRASNOGORSK, Moscow region. Feb 25 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian government is considering a commuter train line from Moscow metro circle line station to Zhukovsky, in the Moscow region, where all the Moscow aerospace research centers and plants will be relocated, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin told members of patriotic organizations at the Technology Museum on Saturday.
"We are considering commuter train service between a station on the Moscow metro circle line and Zhukovsky," he said.
Rogozin said that the Khrunichev Space Center alone occupied 125 hectares of Moscow land and there was shuttle bus service between its facilities.
"Modernization will make this huge territory unnecessary," Rogozin said.
It would be right to sell or lease some of the premises and spend the money on homes for young specialists, Rogozin said. Besides, aircraft design bureaus and plants currently situated along Leningradsky Prospect will be moved to Zhukovsky.
"There are aircraft plants between the Dynamo and Voikovskaya metro stations. They are not in demand," the vice-premier said.
"We want to move the plants from the center of Moscow to Zhukovsky," he said.
The leading technical schools will open their branches in Zhukovsky too. The headquarters of the United Aircraft Corporation is being built. Zhukovsky is the home of the Gromov Flight Research Institute and the Central Aerohydrodynamics Institute.
