ALMATY. Feb 26 (Interfax) - The P5+1 group makes new proposals on the solution of the Iranian nuclear problem at the Almaty round, aware that the solution will take time.
Substantial and substantive proposals were drafted especially for that round, Michael Mann, press secretary of EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton, told a press briefing on Tuesday. He said the negotiations were not an end in itself and the intermediaries wished to make progress. At the same time, they realized that the problem could not be solved overnight.
The negotiations have been on for a long time: negotiations are a process and the latest, fourth round started in April 2012, Mann said. He called significant the Iranian consent to talk about the nuclear program expressed in Istanbul last year.
Mann told the reporters he did not know what the Iranians were doing at the moment. He said the intermediaries were reading out their proposal at the moment he left the conference room and the Iranians were listening intently. The next steps depend on the Iranian reaction; the group is ready to listen to what they have to say, Mann said.
