MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax-AVN) - Russia's renowned Taman and Kantemirovskaya Armed Forces units, which were transformed into brigades as part of former Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov's reform, will be turned back into divisions soon, a military source told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.
"The Taman motorized rifle unit and the Kantemirovskaya tank unit will participate in this year's May 9 Victory Day Parade in Moscow under their historical banners as divisions," the source said.
"A decision to turn the Taman Motorized Rifle Brigade and the Kantemirovskaya Tank Brigade back into divisions has already been adopted. An appropriate General Staff directive is currently being prepared," he said.
The Armed Forces General Staff is also "formulating proposals to reorganize some other Land Force motorized rifle brigades, primarily those deployed in the Far East, into divisions," the source said.
