Hetz-3 capable of hitting targets at no less than 250 kilometer altitude - expert

MOSCOW. Feb 26 (Interfax-AVN) - The combat efficiency of the Israeli Hetz-3 missile defense system will become clear after interceptor missiles destroy ballistic targets, Russian missile defense expert Mikhail Khodarenok told Interfax-AVN on Tuesday.

The Hetz-3 missile performed an extra-atmospheric test flight on Monday, as reported by the U.S. Missile Defense Agency.

"This means the Israeli missile has a cruising speed of no less than Mach 4-5 and gas vanes and can destroy targets at the altitude of no less than 250 kilometers," the expert said.

"The Israeli system has satellite killer qualities," he stressed.

"It must be noted that (Israel) is testing not only the interceptor missile, but also the whole Hetz-3 missile defense system. This system incorporates at least a radar station (with a rather high potential, judging by the interception altitudes), a command post, a computer post, launchers and missiles," Khodarenok said.

The Hetz-3 (Arrow-3) missile was successful test fired on Monday to begin a new stage in the creation of the Israeli ultimate air defense.
