MOSCOW. Feb 27 (Interfax-AVN) - Increasing the defense potential is a key task of the Russian Defense Ministry, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu told the Defense Ministry collegium on Wednesday.
"The Russian Defense Ministry has fulfilled a big set of measures to develop the Armed Forces. We have created inter-branch groups on strategic tracks. We are supplying new weapons and military equipment to troops, we have formed permanent-readiness junctions and military units, and we have intensified their training. However, some areas of army development need adjustment," Shoigu said.
The minister said Russia's Armed Forces will have 532 military cities by 2017. "We are now implementing a plan on military cities for 2013-2014 and the period until 2017," he said.
The Armed Forces management system is being improved, the minister said. "There are plans to create a vertically integrated multi-level automatic control system," Shoigu said.
Combat management enters and daily activity management centers are being deployed in the Defense Ministry, the minister said. "This system will embrace all links of the Armed Forces administration and will help coordinate the efforts of 40 ministries and agencies involved in the implementation of the country's defense plan," Shoigu said.
