MOSCOW. March 1 (Interfax-AVN) - A space complex for the Amur heavy rocket will be built at the Vostochny Space Center in the Amur region, Roscosmos reports.
"A scheme design of the space rocket complex for the Soyuz-2 rocket has been made in fulfillment of the Russian presidential ordinance of November 6, 2007, "On the Vostochny Space Center". The Space Center's infrastructure and facilities are being built. A scheme design is being made for the space rocket complex for the Amur heavy rocket," says the report posted on the Roscosmos website after a meeting of the agency's board.
The meeting was held on Friday under the chairmanship of Roscosmos head Vladimir Popovkin.
"Building of Vostochny infrastructure and engineering facilities started full scale in 2012. Initial construction works were accomplished at launch sites and engineering communications," speakers at the meeting said.
The Vostochny project was started up in 2011. Engineering and social infrastructure will be built and the first launch will be done by 2015. The second stage of the space center will be ready by 2018 for launching heavy rockets and the first manned spaceship.
Vostochny will be the main space launch site of Russia fulfilling domestic and international projects.
