Group of amphetamine dealers caught, a tonne of drugs seized

MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax) - The Moscow drug police have seized over a tonne of amphetamine during a special operation, Interfax was told at the press service of the Moscow department of the Federal Drug Control Service (FSKN) on Monday.

"The Moscow drug police stopped the operations of a criminal group that had organized the production and dealing of amphetamine-type drugs in the city's nightclubs. Over one tonne of the drug was seized. Eight people were detained," a press officer said.

He said that after studying where amphetamine is peddled and consumed operatives from the Moscow department of FSKN identified a group of eight people which included students of several Moscow colleges and universities who produced and sold the drug.

"The detention of all members of the group involved in illegal drug turnover and the elimination of the illegal production of psychoactive substances lasted for several months and covered the entire chain from dealers to organizers," the press officer said.
