MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax-AVN) - The former Soviet Union shared military technologies with all countries consistent with its policy and 53 states are legally producing Kalashnikov submachine guns now. The number of states, which do that illegally, is even larger, Federal Military-Technical Cooperation Service Director Alexander Fomin told the Ekho Moskvy radio on Friday.
"Intellectual property is protected but it is very difficult to punish the copiers," he said.
Kalashnikov submachine guns are legally made in 53 countries, Fomin said.
"Only Hungary has concluded the relevant agreement, and we appreciate that," he said.
"The problem of the copying does exist. Thousands of (weaponry species) are made worldwide," Fomin admitted.
