MOSCOW. March 4 (Interfax-AVN) - Defense Ministry acceptance of products and stricter quality control will reduce the number of abortive space launches, CNIIMash department for feasibility study of space hardware and activity head Gennady Saprunov said at a Monday roundtable at the Higher School of Economics.
'There are two reasons (for the increased number of unsuccessful space launches): slightly obsolete equipment and technologies and, what is the most important, the human factor. We need a highly skilled labor force and a new quality control system," he said.
Control at space industry enterprises weakened in the 1990s - early 2000s, the representative of the Roscosmos leading research institute said. "Defense Ministry acceptance procedures were gone, same as numerous controllers. We are restoring the protocol now," he said.
Russia controls approximately 10% of the world market of space services, Saprunov said. He said measures were being elaborated to increase the Russian role.
