TBILISI. March 5 (Interfax) - Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius advises Georgian Prime Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili and President Mikheil Saakashvili to make a joint statement on Georgia's foreign political course, the Georgian governmental press service said.
President Saakashvili agreed with the proposal. Speaking to journalists following a meeting with Linkevicius in Tbilisi on Tuesday, Saakashvili told journalists he had urged the prime minister several times to make a joint address to the European Union and NATO on Georgia's commitment to a course toward European integration.
"We need a signal that Georgia's European way is unchanged," Linkevicius told journalists.
Ivanishvili said following a meeting with Linkevicius that Georgia had declared its foreign political course long before.
"We have analyzed the situation in Georgia, and Minister Linkevicius empathizes with us as a minister of a country friendly to us. Unlike a lot of European politicians, he is well informed about processes we are going through," Ivanishvili said.
