SOCHI. March 7 (Interfax) - The third session of the international working group of experts from special services and law enforcement agencies on sharing information about identified threats related to major international events opened in Sochi on Wednesday.
The press service of the Federal Security Service (FSB) reports that on the first day group members agreed on the further advancement of interaction mechanisms in identifying potential threats, exchanging information and sharing experience of guaranteeing security at major international athletic events.
"At the meeting the Russian side informed its foreign partners about the situation emerging in the area of the upcoming 2014 Games and efforts to guarantee security before and during the Winter Olympic and Paralympic Games in Sochi. Special attention was paid to security measures related to the Olympic and Paralympic fire relays, the security of the information and transport infrastructure," the press service said.
Foreign participants in the meeting related their experience of conducting similar events.
The meeting is attended by 35 delegations from 19 countries and two international organizations - the CIS Antiterrorist Center and Interpol. Representatives of security services of the commercial partners of the International Olympic Committee are present as observers.
The meeting will continue on Thursday, March 7.
