Russian deputy foreign minister discusses Syria with Brahimi

MOSCOW. March 6 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister and presidential envoy for the Middle East met with UN/Arab League envoy to Syria Lakhdar Brahimi at the Russian Embassy in London on Wednesday.

"During a substantive conversation, [Bogdanov and Brahimi] discussed the soonest possible termination of bloodshed in Syria and the beginning of a political settlement of the Syria crisis," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.

"An emphasis was placed on the need to immediately launch an inter-Syrian negotiating process between all parties involved in the conflict in line with the provisions of the Action Group's consensus-based communique adopted in Geneva on June 30, 2012," it said.
