Theft of 100 Mln rubles allotted to FSIN for food supply probed in Saratov - Investigative Committee

MOSCOW. March 7 (Interfax) - Theft of 100 million rubles allotted to the Federal Penitentiary Service for food supply to correctional institutions is being investigated in the Saratov region.

"A criminal case has been opened over stealing of more than 100 million rubles allotted to the Federal Penitentiary Service for food supply to correctional institutions. The case was opened under Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code (Fraud)," Russian Investigative Committee spokesman Vladimir Markin told Interfax on Thursday.

"Involvement of executives of the FSIN Selinvest federal state unitary enterprise in the crime has been established. Fraudulent granulated sugar production and sale transactions with several organizations based in the Penza region and Moscow in March 2011 overstated the product price," Markin said.
