Three militants eliminated in Chechnya - National Anti-Terrorist Committee

MOSCOW. March 11 (Interfax) - Three militants, including an active militant named Abu-Malik, have been eliminated in Chechnya.

"Three militants were eliminated in a special operation in the Vedeno district of Chechnya. There is information that one of them is Adam Khushalayev, known as Abu-Malik," the National Anti-Terrorist Committee has reported on Thursday.

According to the operative headquarters, Khushalayev claimed the role of leader of the militant group operating in the Vedeno district of Chechnya after the Gakayev brothers were neutralized in January 2013.

"[Khushalayev] has been an active militant for more than ten years and organized and participated in the attacks on the populated areas of Tsa-Vedeno in 2007 and Elizstanzhi in 2008, and also attacks on law enforcement officials and servicemen," the National Anti-Terrorist Committee reported.

One law enforcement official was killed and one was wounded in the operation, in which Federal Security Service and Interior Ministry officials took part. "No civilians were hurt in the operation," the National Anti-Terrorist Committee reported.

"Two guns and rucksacks containing militant uniforms" were found at the clash site in the forest near the village of Agishbatoi, the operative headquarters reported.
