There are no Russians among crew of ship hijacked in Nigeria - embassy

ABUJA. March 11 (Interfax) - There were no Russians among the crew members of the vessel Armada Tuah hijacked off the coast of Nigeria, the Russian Embassy in Nigeria told Interfax on Thursday.

"According to our information, there are no Russian citizens aboard this vessel," the Russian Embassy said.

The crew of the Armada Tuah were attacked by pirates in Nigeria on Monday, when the pirates boarded the ship and abducted three sailors (captain, chief engineer and second engineer), sources in the Nigerian security service told reporters.

One of the abducted crew members is Indonesian. The other sailors' citizenship is currently unknown. The ship was flying the flag of Malaysia.

The Nigerian Navy has not commented on the sailors' abduction.
