BAKU. March 11 (Interfax) - Azeri security services have arrested 3 members of the civic movement Nida calling for violence and confrontation during an unsanctioned protest demonstration scheduled for March 10, the Azeri National Security Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office said in a joint statement on Friday.
"During search operations that National Security Ministry and Prosecutor General's Office operatives conducted at the places of residence of Bakhtiyar Samandar oglu Guliyev, Shakhin Novruzlu, and Mamed Azizov, several dozens of bottles with a combustible liquid, drugs, leaflets, and large amounts of money were found and seized," the statement says.
The operation was carried out based on intelligence information, it said.
The Prosecutor General's Office investigative department for serious crimes has opened a criminal case against the three men on charges of illegal acquisition, storage or sale of illicit drugs (Criminal Code Article 234.1) and illegal acquisition, storage, or carrying of weapons or explosives (Article 228.1).
