CHISINAU. March 12 (Interfax) - Moldovan President Nicolae Timofti will hold consultations with all parliamentary parties on the premier's candidature, presidential press secretary Vlad Turcanu told a press briefing on Monday.
"Leaders of parliamentary parties have been informed about the president's intention to start consultations. All of them have agreed to negotiate. The form and program of the consultations will now be chosen," he said.
Turcanu expressed hope that consultations with two or three parties would be held before the end of the week and the president would be able to give the candidate's name to the parliament next week.
The Moldovan parliament had the no-confidence vote on the government on March 5 due to disagreements between the Liberal Democratic Party and the Democratic Party - members of the ruling Alliance for European Integration. The Democratic Party supported the no-confidence motion of the opposition Party of Communists. Prime Minister Vlad Filat tendered the government resignation to the president on March 8. Timofti accepted the resignation and ordered the government to continue fulfilling its duties until the new cabinet was formed.
Moldovan laws bind the president to nominate a candidate for the prime minister after consultations with parliamentary factions.
