Oboronservice investigation may take unexpected turn - source

MOSCOW. March 12 (Interfax) - A high-profile investigation into alleged embezzlement in the Oboronservice company affiliated with the Russian Defense Ministry, in which ex-Defense Minister Anatoly Serdyukov is currently figuring as a witness, may take an unexpected turn in the near future, a source familiar with the investigation told Interfax on Tuesday.

"Very interesting materials have been obtained within the framework of this case, which should help clarify the picture in analyzing the former defense minister's activities," the source said.

"The new materials could prompt Serdyukov's defense team to change their tactics," he said.

Up to present, the ex-minister has been categorically denying his involvement in any improprieties and insisted on having acted strictly in line with the law, he said.

"Serdyukov will give new testimony to the investigation in the near future," he said.
