BISHKEK. March 13 (Interfax) - Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev and Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) Secretary General Nikolai Bordyuzha discussed the organization's plans for 2013 at a meeting on Tuesday, the Kyrgyz presidential press service told Interfax.
"Atambayev received CSTO Secretary General Bordyuzha on Tuesday, with whom he discussed priority areas of cooperation and events to be held under the CSTO auspices, including the organization's summit planned for May this year, which would pass under Kyrgyzstan's chairmanship," it said.
Bordyuzha informed Atambayev that the CSTO secretariat has drawn up an action plan in line with instructions given earlier by the leaders of the CSTO member-states, it said. The Kyrgyz president, who is currently chairman of the CSTO Collective Security Council, has endorsed the plan.
During his visit to Kyrgyzstan, Bordyuzha met with the Kyrgyz foreign minister and security council secretary.
Atambayev said in an interview shown on the CIS television company Mir on March 11 that "the strengthening of defense capability of the organization's countries and defense from attacks, interference and aggression from the outside" will be among the CSTO's priorities in 2013.
"The CSTO will become a strong and efficient organization" due to its members' coordinated efforts, he said.
