Lavrov expects ISAF to submit report on mandate fulfillment to UN Security Council

LONDON. March 14 (Interfax) - Before its complete departure from Afghanistan the international forces will have to submit a final report to the UN Security Council, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has said.

"The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) is staying in Afghanistan with a UN Security Council mandate that was issued unanimously and that lies at the core of the operations of the contingents deployed in Afghanistan," he said at a Wednesday press conference following talks on the 2+2 format.

"Of course, if the coalition makes a decision on curtailing the operation, then probably a final report on how this mandate was fulfilled should be submitted to the Security Council," the minister said.

In Lavrov's opinion, the Security Council should "evaluate the fulfillment of the mandate."
