MOSCOW. March 15 (Interfax) - While inspecting the spending of budget funds allocated for the 2012 state defense order, the Russian federal service for the defense order, Rosoboronzakaz, has found around 1,500 violations and discrepancies worth over 16 billion rubles, Rosoboronzakaz press office said on Friday.
"In 2012, Rosoboronzakaz held 99 scheduled and 176 random inspections. A total of 1,415 violations and discrepancies (illegal receipt and use of funds) worth 16.1 billion rubles," the press office said.
Over 45% of the 2012 state defense order, or 938.3 billion rubles, were checked in 2012, the press office said.
"As of December 31, 2012, a total of 2.05 billion rubles obtained illegally have been returned, 1.29 billion rubles of losses from major construction projects have been compensated and the losses worth 2.35 billion rubles have been prevented," the press office said in a statement.
"Following the inspections, 655 administrative cases have been opened, 572 decrees on administrative fines (a total of 15.59 million rubles) have been issued," the statement said.
The amount of funds returned to the budget doubled in the past three years, Rosoboronzakaz said.
