MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Experts of the Sextet of international mediators on Iran's nuclear program and Tehran are expected to meet in Istanbul on March 18.
The Sextet (Russia, the United States, Britain, France, China and Germany) and Iran last met at the political directors' level in Almaty on February 26 and 27 and the parties agreed to hold a meeting of experts in Istanbul on March 18 before the next round in Almaty on April 5 and 6.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov told Interfax after the round that the meeting was useful and that the Sextet promised Iran to soften international sanctions if it stops enriching uranium to 20% and reduces activities at the Fordow nuclear facility.
"This would be possible if Iran responds to the trust-building efforts and stops 20% uranium enrichment and reduces activities at the Fordow nuclear facility," Ryabkov said.
Iran presented its own approach to the Sextet which partially takes the Sextet's position into account, he said.
