MOSCOW. March 18 (Interfax) - Russia's National Anti-Terrorism Committee said on Saturday evening that an anti-militant operation launched earlier in the day in a wooded mountain area on the border between the Russian republics of Chechnya and Ingushetia was going on, and that seven militants had been killed during it.
The Committee said in a statement that neither the special forces carrying out the operation nor the local population had sustained any losses.
Earlier, the Committee said the operation involved besieging a group of up to 15 militants that had been discovered during a reconnaissance mission. The site of the operation was 2 kilometers from the village of Dattykh.
