Markin says operation to detain Pomazun differed for the better from catching Boston terrorists

MOSCOW. April 24 (Interfax) - Russian Investigative Committee spokesperson Vladimir Markin said that the operation to detain the Belgorod gunman was organized with less inconvenience for civilians than measures taken to catch the suspected Boston bomber.

"The professional work of our colleagues from the Interior Ministry, who organized the detention of the suspect [in killing six people in Belgorod], demands respect," Markin said.

"At the same time, life in Belgorod and in the region did not stop as it did in Boston," Markin said.

The official said that "now the matter depends on investigators of the Investigative Committee to collect and to document proof of guilt."

On April 22, a previously convicted local citizen opened fire and killed a total of six people. Officers of transport police detained Sergei Pomazun at a railway station in Belgorod late on April 23. The suspect offered resistance and injured a policeman with a knife.
