MOSCOW. June 3 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and UN Secretary General Ban-Ki-moon have held telephone talks, discussing the situation in Syria and, specifically, the developments in El Quseir.
"The talks centered on the military-political situation in Syria, first of all the developments in El Quseir. The parties agreed that the situation should be unblocked as soon s possible and civilians' security guaranteed. To attain this goal, all parties in the Syrian conflict should strictly observe international humanitarian law," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement, posted on its website on Monday.
A strong accent was put on the importance of thorough preparations for an international conference on Syria for the purpose of launching an inner dialogue leading to a steady settlement, it said.
The talks were held on Sunday at the UN secretary general's initiative.
