MOSCOW. July 19 (Interfax) - The Kremlin has not been informed of any change in U.S. President Barack Obama's plans regarding his visit to Moscow in September.
"We do not have any information concerning changes to the American president's plans," Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov told Interfax.
Peskov offered his comments in response to foreign news reports claiming that Obama was considering the possibility of canceling his Moscow visit, which is expected to take place in September ahead of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg.
The Financial Times newspaper reported, citing U.S. officials, that such an option was possible due to the situation between the United States and Russia over former CIA employee Edward Snowden.
"We have no information on that score," the Russian president's press secretary said.
"We continue preparations for the visit through diplomatic channels. We look forward to it. The G20 summit in St. Petersburg is being prepared as well," Peskov said.
Russia attaches great importance to the step-by-step development of bilateral relations with the United States, he said.
