Shoigu proposes launching Russian-Italian production of military hardware

ROME. Aug 7 (Interfax-AVN) - Russian defense companies must switch from "screwdriver assembling" to manufacturing military hardware jointly with Italian producers, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said in Rome during talks with Italian Defense Minister Mario Mauro on Tuesday.

"Our companies should switch from primitive assembly work, or the so-called 'screwdriver assembly' to joint production, ensuring at least 50% localization for the production of helicopters and armored vehicles for our countries," he said.
