MOSCOW. Aug 9 (Interfax-AVN) - The production of a unique robot equipped with a track-laying chassis with a hybrid engine for various applied military purposes will begin in Russia by 2014, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Col. Gen. Oleg Ostapenko told reporters.
"The defense minister has set the task under the program to produce this robot platform on the territory of the Russian Federation. I think we can show a prototype of this robot next year," Ostapenko said.
Ostapenko specified that the robot in question was a unique robot equipped with a track-laying chassis and "can resolve broad-range tasks," specifically, mine-sweeping. The robot is equipped with a hybrid engine (diesel and electric).
