VLADIVOSTOK. Aug 9 (Interfax) - A former deputy director of the Russian Investigative Committee's branch for the Chuguyev district in the Primorye Territory has been remanded into custody on suspicion of accepting a large bribe.
"The suspect was taken into custody in the courtroom," Yelena Barabash, senior aide to the Primorye Territory prosecutor, told Interfax on Friday.
A criminal inquiry has been opened, she said.
Investigators believe that the man accepted a bribe valued at over one million rubles from a local resident in exchange for dropping a criminal case against him.
The suspect lost his job after the incident.
