KHABAROVSK. Aug 15 (Interfax-AVN) - Servicemen of a separate command brigade of the Eastern Military District are reinforcing the banks of the Amur River within the Khabarovsk city limits, district spokesman Lt. Col. Alexander Gordeyev told Interfax-AVN on Thursday.
"Almost 70 tons of sand will be bagged and arranged checker -wise for building a dike on the premises of the 2nd heating and power plant. Army Aviation units stationed in the Khabarovsk territory are making aerial reconnaissance of water reservoirs and flooded areas around Khabarovsk and transferring data to the emergency situations group, which operates on the round-the-clock schedule at the Eastern Military District headquarters," Gordeyev said.
Four Mil Mi-8 helicopters are on standby on the Khabarovsk airfield. They are ready to transport task groups and supplies to flood-ridden territories.
The Eastern Military District separate engineering brigade has assigned a PTS-2 floating carrier for reconstructions near the towns of Dubki and Sita near Khabarovsk.
