ALMATY. Aug 15 (Interfax-AVN) - The Batys-2013 tactical command and staff military exercises have wrapped up at the Oymasha training ground in the Mangistau region in western Kazakhstan, the Kazakh Defense Ministry said in a press release.
Kazakh Land Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Murat Maikeyev supervised the event, the ministry said.
Under the scenario of the Batys-2013 exercises, the Land Forces, the Air Force, the Navy and the Border Guard Service of the Kazakh National Security Committee were required to conduct a simulated joint operation to restore status quo on the country's land and maritime border.
"The commanders of the Land Forces' units and command centers had a good opportunity to practice their command skills during a simulated counter-offensive against an imaginary adversary's assault force. Well-coordinated joint efforts made by different branches of the Armed Forces and other military units were the highlight of the recent exercises," the ministry said.
