MOSCOW. Aug 15 (Interfax) - The Russian and Chinese prime ministers will hold a meeting by the end of the year and the bilateral contact between the two countries' leaders on the sidelines of the G20 summit in September will precede that meeting.
"Another meeting of prime ministers is being prepared. Our leaders will hold a meeting on the sidelines of the G20 summit in St. Petersburg," Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said at a meeting with Chinese State Council member Yang Jiechi in Moscow on Thursday.
Yang Jiechi said that "the prime ministers will meet later this year."
"Our speaker also intends to pay an important visit to Russia," Yang Jiechi said.
Lavrov said that he enjoyed remembering the cooperation with Yang Jiechi when the latter was the Chinese foreign minister and that he was happy to continue such cooperation with Yang Jiechi now, when he supervises the foreign policy of the Chinese government.
The work between the two countries is currently moving forward due to the impetus inspired by the visit of Chinese leader Xi Jinping to Moscow this spring, Lavrov said.
"The work that has been done over the past months, shows that our potential is inexhaustible," Lavrov said.
"Our close coordination in the international sphere on key aspects of the international policy is a very important factor ensuring the national interests of Russia and China in the global arena, ensuring stability in the world and respect for the international law and taking all countries into account," Lavrov said.
Yang Jiechi said that "the agreements reached by our countries' leaders increasingly turn into real results of our cooperation in various spheres."
Yang Jiechi said he hoped that the future summit, which will potentially allow them to reach new agreements, would be a success.
