U.S., Britain seeking guilty verdict for Assad - Russian lawmaker (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - The United States and Britain have assumed an accusatory stance against Syrian President Bashar al Assad a priori the alleged chemical weapon incident, said chairman of the State Duma International Affairs Committee Alexei Pushkov.

"Washington and London had declared Assad guilty even before the UN investigation began. They only need a guilty verdict. All others will be rejected," Pushkov wrote on Twitter.

"This is how the Iraqi scenario may have worked: now, a coalition is being formed of parties that want to fight against Syria without the UN Security Council's approval. Turkey is ready for this already. This is how international law is being buried," Pushkov wrote.

The Syrian opposition announced last week that the government troops had used chemical weapons against opposition forces near Damascus. The Syrian military denied the allegations.
