Syrian authorities are likely to be blamed for sniper attack on UN experts - Lavrov

MOSCOW. Aug 26 (Interfax) - Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov does not doubt that responsibility for the sniper attack on UN chemical experts in Syria on Monday will be laid on Syrian authorities.

"UN chemical experts went on their first mission to a certain district and fell under a sniper attack on territory controlled by militants," Lavrov told a news conference in Monday.

"I have no doubt that it will be stated that snipers opened fire from the other side," he said.

Such a development of the situation does not inspire optimism, he added.
