MEXICO CITY. Sept 30 (Interfax-AVN) - The first two Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes, purchased by the Mexican company Interjet, have been certified and have been carrying out passenger transportation for several days already, the Mexican newspaper La Jordana reported citing an air company representative.
"One of the Sukhoi Superjet 100 liners performs flights from Mexico City international airport to Aguascalientes, Minatitlan and Campeche, the second aircraft flies from Mexico City to Torreon, Zacatecas and Mazatlan," the newspaper reported.
The jets have flown 100 hours each to check their quality and safety prior to being put into operation as per local law requires.
According to the newspaper's information, the Mexican company will receive 20 Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes by the end of 2014, Interjet intends to expand the number of flights and routes in Mexico and countries of the region considerably, including the U.S., by putting them into operation. Interjet has the option to acquire ten more aircraft.
