MOSCOW. Oct 7 (Interfax) - Alexei Pushkov, the head of the State Duma committee on international affairs, believes countries that are looking to overthrow Syrian President Bashar Assad may disrupt the Geneva II meeting, which is scheduled to take place in November.
"The Geneva II conference may not take place in November. It's not surprising, bearing in mind how many countries and forces are looking to disrupt it and overthrow Assad," he said on Twitter on Sunday.
Lahdar Brahimi, special envoy of the Arab League and the UN, said earlier on Sunday that the Geneva II conference may take place in November.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said at a press conference given jointly with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov at the APEC summit in Indonesia on Monday that an understanding had been reached on holding the Geneva II conference in November.
