Russian Air Force starts airfield modernization program

MOSCOW. Oct 14 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Air Force is building several runways in the European part of Russia, Russian Defense Ministry spokesman for the Air Force Col. Igor Klimov told Interfax-AVN.

"Runways are being built in Akhtubinsk, Engels and Privolzhsky (Astrakhan region), Karinovsk (Krasnodar territory), Krymsk and Chkalovsky (Moscow region), and Chkalovsk (Kaliningrad region). Construction and assembly works are about to start on the airfield in Voronezh," he said.

Air Force engineers have repaired 15 airfields.
