GENEVA. Oct 17 (Interfax) - Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov has described the outcome of the latest round of talks between the P5+1 group and Iran as more advanced than of the previous round in Almaty but not guaranteeing further progress.
"The result is better than in Almaty but does not guarantee further progress. There is no cause for applause. It would have been possible to work better," he told a press briefing.P5+1 group and Iran "worked well enough" he said and quoted one of the negotiators as saying: "Better than many people thought but worse than we hoped."
"There is a great distance separating the position of the Iranian side and the group," the diplomat said.
In terms of geography the distance "is counted in kilometers but the advance is measured by half-meter steps," he said.
"We are generally satisfied with the note at which this round ended," he said.
