MOSCOW. Oct 17 (Interfax-AVN) - The Russian Helicopters Holding has delivered a Mil Mi-171E helicopter built by its Ulan Ude aircraft plant to the Kazakh Interior Ministry, the holding press service reports.
"The contract between the Russian Helicopters Holding and the Kazakh Interior Ministry says that pilots and technicians of the customer will receive theoretical and practical knowledge at the holding's training center in Ulan Ude," says the report obtained by Interfax-AVN on Wednesday.
The Kazakh Interior Ministry uses Mil Mi-8/17 helicopters in patrol, search-and-rescue and transport missions.
The helicopter can transport up to four tonnes of cargo inside the cabin or externally. It is equipped with an additional power unit, Safir 5K/G Mi, and VK-2500-03 engines, which allow Mil Mi-171E to operate in the thin air of high altitudes. The helicopter may also carry additional equipment broadening its sphere of operation.
Mil Mi-171E is one of the latest modifications of the Mi-8/17 platform. It was designed at the Moscow Mil Helicopter Plant and is being made at the Ulan-Ude aircraft plant. More than 4,500 Mi-8/17 helicopters are being used worldwide, the report said.
