Tajikistan presses Russia to probe assault on train (Part 2)

MOSCOW. Oct 29 (Interfax) - Tajikistan's embassy in Moscow has sent a note to the Russian Foreign Ministry, demanding an investigation into an assault by a group of unidentified individuals on a Tajikistan-bound train, an embassy spokesman said on Tuesday.

"We demand an immediate investigation into the incident," the spokesman, Muhammad Egamzod, told Interfax. "There has never been anything like this in the practice of Russian-Tajik relations before."

Egamzod said the attackers had shouted nationalist insults against passengers, injured some of them, and damaged cars.

"I think that we will receive a response from the Russian authorities shortly," Egamzod said.
